Privacy Policy

Effective July 15, 2026 Version 1.0

The short version

KIT collects nothing. There is no account to create, no server to sign in to, and nothing watching what you do.

Everything you put into KIT — the people you remember, your notes, reminders, voice memos, photos and links — is stored only on your device, inside an encrypted database that is locked to your phone. We never see it, never receive it, and could not access it even if we wanted to.

01

Who we are

KIT is a private, local-first people-memory notebook, published by Albert Software (“we”, “us”, “our”). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the KIT app (“KIT”, “the App”).

Because of how KIT is built, this is one of the shortest privacy policies you will ever read — there is very little to explain, because there is very little that happens.

02

Information we collect: none

KIT does not collect, transmit, store on our systems, or share any personal information. In plain terms:

03

Where your data lives

Everything you create in KIT lives in a single encrypted database on your device.

Attachments such as photos and voice notes are kept inside the same protected app storage on your device.

04

Permissions we ask for

KIT asks for a few device permissions only so specific features can work. Each is used locally, and nothing they capture ever leaves your device.

Face ID / Biometrics
To unlock the App. Biometric data is handled entirely by iOS; KIT only ever receives a yes-or-no result and never sees your face or fingerprint data.
Microphone
To record voice notes, which are saved only on your device.
Speech Recognition
To turn voice notes into text on your device. The audio is processed on-device and is never sent to Apple's servers or ours.
Photos
So you can attach a photo to a memory. KIT only accesses the specific photos you choose and stores them in its encrypted storage on your device.

You can review or revoke any of these permissions at any time in your device Settings.

05

No ads, no profiling, no AI training

KIT shows no ads and builds no profile of you. There is no recommendation engine, no automated decision-making, and your content is never used to train any AI model. Your memories are yours alone.

06

Backups and exports

KIT never backs up your data for you. If you create your own backup or export of your KIT data, it is placed wherever you choose — and it stays under your control. KIT does not upload it anywhere.

If you use Apple's device backup (iCloud Backup or an encrypted computer backup), your KIT data may be included as part of that whole-device backup. That backup is created and encrypted by Apple under your Apple Account, not by us, and is governed by Apple's privacy policy.

Because we hold no copy of your data, you are responsible for keeping your own backups. If you lose your device or delete the App without a backup, your data cannot be recovered by us or anyone else.

07

Keeping and deleting your data

You are in complete control of your data at all times.

Once deleted from your device, the data is gone. There is no copy on any server for us to hold, restore, or be compelled to produce.

08

Children's privacy

KIT is a personal notebook that is not directed at children. Because KIT collects no information at all, it does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

09

Changes to this policy

If we ever change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and post the new version here. Since KIT has no way to message you, please check back here for any updates. Meaningful changes will be reflected in a new version number.
